Huge Super League star dropped

There some big games tonight as Wigan Warriors and Hull FC in a crucial game in the play-off race which is the same as St Helens and Hull KR but the big game is the collision between Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers.

There is an early kick off however with Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils meeting in a crucial game in the play-off battle.

The Giants loss at the weekend to St Helens ended a run of four consecutive wins but Ian Watson’s men are still just four points shy of the playoff spots, whereas Salford sit two points adrift.

Salford are on a torrid run of form in which they’ve lost seven straight games, with six of those coming in Super League, yet they still are within touching distance of the playoff places which highlights how close the fight for the top six is.

Paul Rowley has named his squad for this vital game and the Red Devils are operating at close to full strength for the first time in a while.

All the key spine players of Brieley, Croft, Sneyd and Ackers have been named and look set to feature whilst key outside backs in Ken Sio, Tim Lafai and Jo Burgess are also named.

Skipper Kallum Watkins had returned previously and he’s named once again, as is their new recruit Brad Singleton, who the Red Devils acquired in a swap deal for Tyler Dupree.

In fact, Paul Rowley has named an unchanged team.

This isn’t true of Ian Watson however who was forced to replace Ash Golding on the wing with Esan Marsters.

They have also dropped Joe Greenwood to 18th man after he avoided a ban for his red card against St Helens.

Matty English does feature but interestingly once again star halfback Theo Fages has been left out.

Fages has been named in the last two 21-man squads and both times has been left out of the 17.

This coming immediately after confirmation of his move to Catalans Dragons in 2024 with Adam Clune expected to replace him in 2024 though Olly Russell is doing a fine job.
