Huge Hull KR team news ahead of Challenge Cup Final

Willie Peters Hull KR

Hull KR and Leigh Leopards are set to meet at Wembley in the Challenge Cup Final after defeating Wigan Warriors and St Helens in respective Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Hull KR are looking to right the wrongs of their 2015 Challenge Cup Final defeat to Leeds Rhinos where they made unwanted history against the Rhinos losing 50-0.

They are also looking to win a first Challenge Cup Final in 1980 and a first major trophy since 1985.

Leigh’s wait has been must longer however. The Leopards have been waiting since 1971 to return to Wembley after they defeated Leeds in one of the most famous finals ever.

They won the 1895 Cup Final last year and in their first year back in Super League they have reached the Challenge Cup Final.

The final is on Saturday, which is one of three finals in a triple header at Headingley starting with the women’s final between Leeds Rhinos and holders St Helens before the action concludes with the 1895 Cup Final between Halifax Panthers and Batley Bulldogs.

Now Hull KR have confirmed their 21-man squad for the game. The Robins are unsurprisingly without the retired Lachlan Coote and star man Jordan Abdull.

Jesse Sue continues to be absent as well for the Robins. Ryan Hall stands a chance of featuring despite his recent calf injury.

He was supposed to play on the left wing against Wigan Warriors in the semi-final at Headingley but at the 11th hour he pulled out.

Just a matter of weeks removed from that game, Hall could make his first appearance since the Robins beat his former club Leeds at Headingley in Golden Point.

With the Rhinos Hall won two Challenge Cup Finals and lost three finals. He scored in both the 2011 and 2014 finals.

In fact, in the 2014 final he scored one of the most famous Challenge Cup Final tries powering over Andrew Dixon and this helped him secure the Man of the Match.

Interestingly, he and Rovers assistant Danny McGuire both played for Leeds against Hull KR in that 2015 final.

It is a big call from Willie Peters to bring him back in the fold weeks after his last game but if any man can step up to the plate it’s Hall.

Here is the squad:
