Rugby League Commercial (RLC) has recently launched its latest global streaming service, SuperLeague+ to cover all Super League games.

The service is available directly to consumers, which makes it easier for fans to access the latest rugby league content. The SuperLeague+ platform is the next step in IMG’s strategic partnership with RLC, which aims to transform the sport in the UK. IMG’s sister company Endeavor Streaming powers the platform, helping to facilitate the sport’s digital transformation, expand its media strategy and reach new viewers worldwide.

What is SuperLeague+?

SuperLeague+ is the new platform that marks the next phase of IMG’s strategic partnership with RLC to transform the sport in the UK. Endeavor Streaming, an IMG sister company, powers the platform, which aims to drive the digital transformation of the sport, diversify its media strategy, and reach new audiences worldwide.

Starting from Thursday 15 February, SuperLeague+ will stream all 167 matches of the 2024 Betfred Super League season live internationally. The season opener, one of the sport’s classic derby fixtures between Hull FC and Hull KR, will kick off the live stream.

In the UK and Republic of Ireland, domestic fans will be able to watch 106 Betfred Super League games live on the platform. The remaining 61 games will be made available delayed and on-demand. Live coverage in the UK will begin on Friday 16 February with reigning World Club Champions St Helens taking on newly promoted London Broncos, and 2023 Betfred Challenge Cup winners Leigh Leopards playing against Huddersfield Giants (both games kicking off at 8pm UK time).

In addition to live streaming of the matches, SuperLeague+ will offer exclusive fan content such as Betfred Super League highlights, archive content, dedicated club sections, and original programming, including Player Features, Super League Stories, and the Out of Your League podcast.

How will SuperLeague+ work with Sky Sports?

Sky Sports has broadcast every Grand Final

Sky Sports may have a terrific new team including Sam Tomkins, but they will share coverage with SuperLeague+.

Thanks to the groundbreaking deal agreed with Sky Sports last year, all six matches in each of the 27 weekly rounds of the men’s Super League through the 2024 season – a total of 162 games – will be broadcast on a variety of platforms. Sky Sports will retain exclusive live coverage of two fixtures in each round and the new OTT platform, SuperLeague+, will offer live coverage of the remaining matches.

This live coverage of more than 100 weekly-round fixtures will be augmented by on-demand, delayed coverage of Sky’s selections for fans in the British Isles. Meanwhile, SuperLeague+ will offer live coverage of all matches in every round for international subscribers. SuperLeague+ will also offer a range of original programming and archive matches and features – meaning that with Sky Sports also showing more Rugby League in 2024, including selections from the Betfred Women’s and Wheelchair Super Leagues, fans will have more ways to watch more matches than ever before.

There have been reports that suggest that Sky Sports will show every game on their channels until Round 15 before launching a streaming service of their own.
