Hock rejoins Centurions

Leigh Centurions 22-8 Warrington Wolves

Championship side Leigh Centurions have announced the signing of former star Gareth Hock for the rest of the season .

Hock was a free agent having left the Barrow Raiders and will be available for selection when he recovers from a shoulder injury , which is believed will keep him out for up to 4 weeks .

The former Wigan and Salford forward was a fans favourite at LSV in his 1st spell with the club , between 2015 and 2017 , scoring 12 tries in 53 games helping the Centurions gain promotion to Super League . He left the club for Featherstone Rovers for the 2018 season , following Leigh’s relegation from the top flight in 2017 .

Leigh head coach John Duffy told the club’s website

“Gaz has signed for the rest of the season and I think he knows this is an opportunity for him to finish his playing career on his terms.

“We know how good he is and he was great for me at Fev last year when he really bought into everything we tried to do.

“He’ll enjoy our environment and he knows he’ll have to perform every week. And if he wants to go around for another year, he’s got a few months to nail a deal.”

The 35 year old prop , who has 4 caps for Great Britain and 9 for England , told the club website

“I’m really pleased to be back at Leigh Centurions and can’t wait to run out in front of the North Stand again.

“I’ve left Barrow Raiders by mutual agreement. Things didn’t work out, but I’ve had time to think and to go back to the club I loved being at recently and which has always been good to me is a great feeling.

“I’m back with my old coach Duffs and I enjoyed our time at Fev. He’s a great coach and suits my game. To be back with some of my old team-mates is fantastic.

“I’ve been training really hard and I can’t wait to get started with the boys and bring that aggressive part back. I’m really excited.”

It was Hock’s signing for Leigh , from Salford in 2015 , that led to the infamous Judge Rinder clash between Marwan Koukash and Derek Beaumont .

The Centurions have tickets available for their 3 home games in June against Workington , Halifax and Bradford . Why not get yourself down to LSV to see Hock back in action ?
