French international leaves Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity have confirmed French international back Tony Gigot has left the club by mutual consent.

Gigot signed for the club ahead of the restart of the Super League season. He had been playing for Toronto Wolfpack on trial terms.

The fullback started his career at Catalans Dragons, before leaving ahead of the 2020 season.

Wakefield say Gigot was feeling “homesick”, especially since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The club ended the statement by wishing him well for the future.

He went on to make seven appearances for Trinity, scoring one try.
