Forward banned for striking St Helens player off the ball with his elbow

A lot was made of Morgan Knowles’ red card against Halifax Panthers last week.

The St Helens star was sent off for a high tackle on Thomas Inman in the 79th minute of the Challenge Cup clash.

It was his first game back after a five match ban after a hop drop tackle on Wigan Warriors’ Mike Cooper.

However, for all the talk about Knowles, he is not the only player banned from that game.

Halifax Panthers’ former Warrington Wolves forward Eribe Doro was fined twice for dangerous contact in the fixture whilst Jacob Fairbank was given a one match ban for dangerous contact and then a further two games for off the the ball contact with an elbow in the defeat to St Helens.

The minutes stated: “Strikes with elbow/forearm – off ball – reckless.”

He is one of a further six players who have been banned today.
