Former Hull FC star in court over aggravated assault charges

Former Hull FC star Brett Seymour is facing multiple aggravated assault charges as he faces court down for charges that occurred four months ago.

Seymour is more known for his time in the NRL than in the UK. The halfback spent the first five years of his career at Brisbane Broncos leaving in 2007 with the Broncos as NRL Champions. His departure came alongside allegation at the time over an incident involving a woman at the Regatta Hotel. No criminal charges were brought at this time.

He would then join Cronulla Sharks for the next three seasons prior to a stint with New Zealand Warriors finishing his NRL career with 123 appearances and 20 tries as well 52 goals.

In 2011 he would agree a deal with Hull FC and join the club at the beginning of the 2012 season. He would spend two seasons with the Black and Whites making 28 appearances in two lukewarm years for the club.

In September 2013 he agreed a move to Castleford Tigers but was released in March 2014 having never played for the club. This was just as well with on loan Marc Sneyd in brilliant form who would ironically go on to join Hull FC and be their halfback for the better part of a decade.

After his exit from Castleford, he joined Whitehaven and remained there until 2015 even taking over as Head Coach for a period.

His playing career would conclude at Dewsbury Rams. Then in 2019 his now ex-wife made allegations against Seymour over domestic violence.

Now Seymour is fronting up court over assault charges incurred four months ago. He faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) according to The West Australian.

It remains to be seen how the case will unfold down under for the former Hull FC halfback.
