Former Hull FC and Hull KR halfback signs with Championship club

Former Hull FC and Hull KR halfback Liam Harris has agreed a new deal to remain in the Championship.

After impressing on loan at York Knights ahead of the 2022 Championship season, he earned a permanent move to the ambitious Championship club.

He has now penned a two year deal which will keep him at the club until the end of 2025 as York put together an impressive squad for next year complete with the arrival of Richie Myler from Leeds Rhinos.

The former Warrington Wolves halfback has joined on a one year deal after spells at Widnes Vikings, Salford Red Devils and Catalans Dragons throughout his career,

He is likely to end his career at York but will be a brilliant partner for Harris whether at fullback or in the halves.

Head Coach Andrew Henderson is delighted to have tied down Harris to a two year deal describing him as a key piece of the puzzle.

Henderson said to the club’s official website: “I’m very pleased to have re-signed Liam Harris on a two-year deal. Liam was pivotal for us in 2023 and being the general of our side, guiding the team around the field and also adding the quality touches and involvements we know he is capable of.

“As a Coach, that was one of the pieces of the puzzle that we wanted to tie down fairly quickly and I’m really pleased that Liam felt that York was the right Club for him at this stage of his career.

“I’m really excited to work further with Liam over the next two years. He’s a really established player at this level and delivered some fantastic performances in 2023, but I still think there’s more to come from him and I’m looking forward to unlocking that!”

York will likely be pushing for the very top of the Championship in 2024 and hoping to once again boost their IMG score after a disappointing finish in the IMG rankings released earlier this year which saw them a fair way off the top 12 and the all important Super League standings which is something the club have been aiming for for some time.
