Exclusive: Why Dom Young’s future won’t be decided any time soon

Ex-Huddersfield Giants star and England international Dom Young’s future is not yet decided.

That’s despite the fact Newcastle Knights are very keen on locking in the youngster with the other signings the Knights have made from England in the shape of Will Pryce and Wigan Warriors star Kai Pearce-Paul as well as new assistant coach and former Leeds Rhinos boss Brian McDermott hopefully key to keeping him at the club.

However, two can play at that game and South Sydney Rabbitohs have turned to assistant coach and legendary English player Sam Burgess to tempt him to the club with it being reported that he has held meetings with Young over a potential move.

That said, other clubs are not yet out of the mix.

Serious About Rugby League understands that Young and his management still have to meet with other clubs before a decision can be reached about what Young will do in 2024 and beyond with Young now into the final year of his contract at Newcastle Knights.

When a decision will be made is unclear but Sam Burgess’ involvement is not the be all and end all of this transfer saga.

There are still other clubs, plenty of meetings and twists and turns before Young’s future is settled.

That said, Serious About Rugby League also understands that there is to be a break in this story in so far as there are no meetings with clubs scheduled any time soon allowing Young to focus on the start of the season as he contemplates the offers on the table.

However, there are further meetings set to take place in the future.
