Dane Chisholm does have Super League experience.
The creative playmaker played for Hull KR briefly in 2015 but since then has been one of the star names in the Championship with Bradford Bulls, Featherstone Rovers and set to do so again with new club Keighley Cougars in 2023 having helped them to promotion in 2022.
A superb player like him, an 1895 Cup Final winner no less and someone who has constantly shone at the top end of the Championship, it has been a surprise to never see him return to Super League.
However, it wasn’t for the lack of offers.
Speaking exclusively to Serious About Rugby League, Chisholm revealed why he never made the move to Super League: “Yeah I’ve had some interest, but to be honest I’ve really enjoyed being a part of clubs who had ambitions of winning their competitions and attempting promotion.”
So, for Chisholm he was more keen to fight at the top end of the second tier than battle relegation in Super League it seems.
He will be hoping to lead his star-studded Keighley side to a push for the play-offs in 2023.
Meanwhile, his former club Featherstone will again be chasing that Super League dream, and Chisholm would like to see them in Super League: “Yeah definitely I’d like to see them in Super League. They’ve been at the top end of championship for a long time now. I really hope they get there in the near future.”
