According to reports Jackson Hastings has held an in person meeting with a club interesting in his signature.
It’s been an interesting week for Hastings with his current coach Tim Sheens stating earlier this week that he would not be leaving but that he sees Luke Brooks as his halfback and not Hastings.
Brooks has been chased by Newcastle Knights for over a year now but Sheens, despite having desires of signing Mitchell Moses for 2024, doesn’t want to let Brooks leave just yet despite the fact his contract expires at the end of 2023.
This has seen the Knights switch focus to Jackson Hastings as they look for a new halfback especially after Jake Clifford headed to Hull FC.
It was reported yesterday that ex-Warrington Wolves man Andrew Johns had a phone call with Hastings attempting to convince Hastings to make the move and it seems to have worked with Hastings reportedly having a meeting with Newcastle’s Peter Parr.
This comes from the Daily Telegraph who have also claimed that Hastings’ isn’t well liked by Sheens at the Tigers, at least as a half, hence the decision to move him to 13 at the end of last season.
With his contract set to expire at the end of 2023, Hastings was likely set for a move in 2024 but that may happen sooner as the Knights look to fill that famous number seven shirt.
