“Disgrace to this great club” – How social media reacted as Castleford Tigers dropped to bottom of Super League

Castleford Tigers have dropped to the bottom of Super League after being hammered by Huddersfield Giants at home tonight by a score of 28-0.

That’s seen the Tigers drop below Wakefield with Trinity also having the opportunity to pull away from their relegation rivals Cas when they face Hull FC on Sunday.

Huddersfield had entered this game in some form having won three on the spin and they now have a slim chance of making the top six, but the story wasn’t about Huddersfield’s performance tonight and instead more so on the collapse of Cas who look destined for the Championship on this form.

That’s form that features just four wins in eighteen under Andy Last with the more recent form being a losing streak of five games now.

Tonight saw a Sam Halsall hattrick coupled with tries from Leroy Cudjoe and Chris McQueen allowing the Giants to cruise to victory.

Understandably the poor form of Castleford and the impressive resurgence of Wakefield has led to fans being outraged and going into full panic mode over the state of their club at the moment.

The fans unsurprisingly got more and more angry as the game progressed, as calls for the coach and the board gathered pace.

Calls for Daryl Powell to make a return to the Jungle following his sacking by Warrington were among the immediate reactions.

Another referenced the huge losing streak that Wakefield Trinity started the season with and yet Cas have still been sucked into a relegation battle.

Andy Last’s job was called for by a few.

Others recalled the their lofty heights of 2017 when the club made it all the way to the Grand Final.

It also triggered fans to protest after the game with the fans refusing to leave.
