Warrington Wolves went down 24-18 to the Catalans Dragons tonight at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The scoreline perhaps flattered the Wolves, who were losing 24-6 at one stage, before mounting a very late comeback.
That wasn’t enough to trouble the end result, though, and Warrington head coach Daryl Powell wasn’t happy to say the least.
“It was really poor, but I thought Catalans turned up with a great attitude with a lot of people missing and they were too good for us today,” Powell said live on Sky Sports after the game.
‘We’ve got a fair job to do to turn ourselves around quickly – I thought we started to play more a bit towards the end in the second-half, but we were nowhere near good enough.”
Powell was quick to point out that Warrington haven’t been too good since the season started.
“Catalans beat us at pretty much everything, I think we got wha we deserved and I think it’s been coming if I’m being honest.
“I thought we got dominated, they carried the ball harder than us and defended harder than us.
“We’ve got a fair bit to investigate and we need to change our mentality a little bit.”
