Danny Richardson explains why the new era at Castleford excites him so much

Castleford are branding the new season as a new era at the Jungle and it seems to be working with 3,000 fans signing up to be a part of it. But it seems the players are just as excited by this new era as the supporters.

In a comment made by halfback Danny Richardson on the Tigers’ Twitter account, he explained just why he is so excited for the new era at the Jungle.

This new era has been ushered in by the arrival of new Head Coach Lee Radford stepping into the hole left by Daryl Powell, the man who brought Richardson to Castleford as a replacement for Luke Gale in 2020.

Powell has moved onto pastures new in 2022 taking the reins at Warrington after eight fruitful years at the Jungle guiding the Tigers to three major finals and winning the League Leaders’ Shield in 2017. However the arrival of two-time cup winning coach Radford has expectations high going into 2022.

Boosting expectations even further is the arrival of a number of exciting signings. Castleford’s backline will be enhanced by the presence of Jake Mamo, Mahe Fonua and Bureta Faraimo whilst the signing of George Lawler and Joe Westerman give the Tigers further quality in the pack. Callum McLelland’s return to the club also gives Radford depth in the halves going into the new season.

With so many exciting signings and a new coach through the door, many believe the Tigers can achieve big things in 2022 and it appears Richardson is one of them.

He said on the club’s Twitter account: “You’ve seen a lot about the New Cas Era and it is, we’ve got pretty much a new squad and new coaching staff, so it’s just something to be excited about. Us coming together as a group, a new group and putting on performances for the fans. It just shows the support we’ve got behind us and that really drives us on to be as good as we can.”

Keen to thank the supporters for signing up to be a part of the new era at the club, Richardson and his teammates are clearly eyeing up success in 2022. They begin the season at home against Salford Red Devils on Friday 11th February on a night where the new era at the club will truly begin.
