There was a piece of bad news that hit Castleford Tigers after round one when it was revealed that halfback Danny Richardson was in a neck brace.
The number 7 suffered a neck injury in Castleford’s 26-16 loss to Salford Red Devils and head coach Lee Radford confirmed that Richardson had suffered a fractured neck.
Radford added: “It happened in the second half and it was a poor tackle technique.
“He copped one when he put his head in the wrong place which happens in this sport, unfortunately.”
The Castleford boss then gave an awful prognosis for the halfback.
However, Richardson posted on his Instagram that he was brace-free after having had the neck stabiliser taken off.
When one fan commented on the photo, saying: “Nice to see the neck brace off Danny we need you back ASAP,” the former St Helens playmaker replied: “Hopefully not too long mate.”
