Castleford star ruled out for six months

Castleford Tigers have been dealt another huge injury blow with the news that half-back Jamie Ellis could miss up to six months with a knee injury.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury in the warm-up to the pre-season friendly against Featherstone in January, adding to the long-term list of injuries that also includes Luke Gale.

Despite numerous efforts to treat the injury, Ellis was forced to see a specialist and now requires surgery which will keep him out of action until the summer.

“He has been to see a specialist today and he needs a microfracture in his knee,” Castleford head coach Daryl Powell told the club’s official Twitter page.

“It is similar to what Luke Gale had, it’s a tough injury and he will be having that done tomorrow. The potential recovery time is between four and six months so he could be back around June or July time.

“It all depends on how he recovers. It’s a tough one for him but we will look after him and try get him back as soon as we can.”
