BREAKING: Castleford Tigers duo and Hull FC star banned as Leeds Rhinos key man set to miss play-off crunch fixture

Well, that’s another round of Super League fixtures done and dusted and what an exciting weekend it was!

There were two games on Friday night and four on Saturday as the last weekend of the regular season took place.

The round kicked off at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Huddersfield Giants had to rely on on a golden point Will Pryce penalty goal to overcome a stubborn Wakefield Trinity side that ended 2022 as one of the most in-form teams in Super League.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Wigan Warriors put a young Catalans Dragons side to the sword in emphatic fashion with Matt Peet’s men inflicting a 48-4 hammering, but the main action happened on Saturday.

All eyes were firmly focused on Headingley as Leeds Rhinos took on Castleford Tigers for the last spot in the play-offs – and it certainly turned out to be a thriller with Rohan Smith’s men scoring in the last minute to break Castleford hearts in a 14-8 win whilst Salford Red Devils ended up finishing sixth following a disappointing defeat to Warrington Wolves on their own patch.

St Helens were able to overcome Toulouse Olympique as they lifted the League Leaders’ Shield in front of their own fans at the Totally Wicked Stadium with a 36-16 win as Hull KR thrashed Hull FC on their own patch for the last Hull derby of the season. That 36-4 loss epitomised Hull’s dismal end to the year with the Black and Whites fans desperate for better and more in 2023.
