Ben Roberts reveals why he left Castleford Tigers

Ben Roberts was once the heartbeat of the Castleford Tigers.

The Samoan international made his move to the Jungle ahead of the 2015 Super League season and went on to spend almost five seasons with the West Yorkshire side.

In that time, Roberts made 78 appearances with a number of key performances etching his name into Castleford folklore.

During the 2019 season, however, Roberts made his exit from the Tigers after a series of injuries.

And, now he has spoken about how injuries forced his hand at Castleford and why he is channeling that knowledge into his new career.

Roberts posted on Instagram: “After well over a decade playing professional sport I experienced a few injuries, because of this I developed an interest in my body and eventually was mindful of how it reacted to certain treatments and recovery protocols. ⁣⁣

“I became more in tuned with myself and eventually learnt what would benefit it best and what wouldn’t. ⁣⁣

“When I had no choice but forced into retirement, I felt the urge to figure out this last injury and the solution. For me it is about playing the long game and enjoying the process. ⁣⁣

“From being told I needed surgery to now being able to 𝘔𝘖𝘝𝘌 and be 𝘗𝘈𝘐𝘕 𝘍𝘙𝘌𝘌, assured me that the body is capable of anything with the right 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 and willing to 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 and find solutions yourself anything is possible. ⁣⁣

“Now I want to help others and show them living life in pain and soreness isn’t normal and shouldn’t be accepted.”
