A huge 11 Super League stars charged by Match Review Panel

St Helens' signing Daryl Clark

The disciplinary panel has met today after some big games between Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity and Warrington Wolves and Catalans Dragons.

Hull FC and Wigan Warriors stars have both been banned whilst 11 players in total have been charged.

A St Helens star has also been banned.

It was a big weekend that saw Castleford Tigers part company with Andy Last after a 28-0 defeat to Huddersfield Giants and protests from their fans at the ground.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Wigan Warriors comprehensively beat Hull KR who were resting plenty of star men ahead of the Challenge Cup Final whilst Warrington Wolves were well beaten by Catalans Dragons as they started the post Daryl Powell era with defeat.

On Sunday we were treated to three more games. Leeds Rhinos competed but lacked ideas against Leigh Leopards.

Hull FC continued to show that they can push for the play-offs at this late stage as they battered Wakefield Trinity sending them back to the bottom of the league.

Champions St Helens meanwhile spoilt the party at Salford Red Devils as they celebrated their 150th anniversary. They battled back from 15-2 down to win 18-15.

As ever, after the action a nervous wait began ahead of the Match Review panel especially at Catalans Dragons. The French side could face up to four bans today. The first came for an incident Terry O’Connor felt could have yielded a yellow card if Matty Nicholson had stayed down.

Catalans captain Ben Garcia was the man at fault as Nicholson was lifted into a dangerous position.

Later in the game Alrix Da Costa hit Josh Thewlis with a thunderous shot but there was suspicion that Da Costa made contact with the head.

Meanwhile there were concerns from the Sunday games especially for Leeds star Sam Lisone after a potential trip.

However, many of these players have got off with fines.
