Massive blow for Leeds Rhinos as things go from bad to worse

Earlier tonight I said the player would least want injured had been forced from the field when Aidan Sezer went off the field.

I might have to change that statement now that Harry Newman has limped off the field.

Newman charged onto the ball masterfully off a Richie Myler pass and looked like he could pull away but was held onto.

As Newman twisted and turned in the tackle it soon became clear that there was a problem.

He struggled to get up with a problem occurring to his leg and the centre required help from the field.

Making matters worse, minutes later it was Morgan Gannon struggling to get up from the deck requiring assistance from the Rhinos’ medical staff.

It appeared to be another lower limb injury and he too was helped from the field.

Gannon had been doing a terrific job in the halves and only recently returned from a head injury.

Newman sadly has a long history of injuries especially to his legs.

He has suffered three torn hamstrings and a double leg break in 2020 which started this trend of injuries.

Leeds fortunately lead 12-4 but now have 14 players left for the rest of the game after the earlier loss of Sezer.
