Another Leeds Rhinos star recovering from surgery will miss Boxing Day clash

It was confirmed this week that two Leeds Rhinos players had undergone surgery.

New signing Luke Hooley required ankle surgery which leaves him out for 12 weeks whilst star man Mikolaj Oledzki had surgery on his shoulder which leaves him out for 12-14 weeks.

Now though Oledzki has given a positive update on his injury talking to the club’s YouTube channel:

“Yeah perfect really, the best it could have done. It feels fine now, it’s been a week or so. Everything is going in the right direction, I am where I wanted to be and the same with the medical staff, they’re happy.”

Naturally, Oledzki and Hooley will definitely not feature on Boxing Day neither will Cameron Smith as Head Coach Rohan Smith confirmed he had “minor elbow surgery” and will subsequently miss the festive friendly.

However, it shouldn’t be a worry for the Rhinos and their fans with Smith saying “he’s far down the line” and very close to getting back in the mix.

Smith was awarded the number 13 shirt for the 2023 season after Zane Tetevano moved to the number 10 shirt as Matt Prior retires.

In the eyes of some, Smith could soon follow in the footsteps of another former number 13 in the shape of Kevin Sinfield and take on the captaincy.

Right now, Kruise Leeming is still the Rhinos’ skipper.
