Warrington Wolves sign up eight as Daryl Powell looks to the future at the Halliwell Jones Stadium with academy graduates.
Jack Darbyshire, Aiden Doolan, Leon Hayes, Adam Holroyd, Josh Lynch, Jamie Reddecliff, Jake Thewlis and Luke Thomas have all signed their first full-time deals with the Wire for the 2023 season and beyond.
The contracts are a just reward for the effort, level of performance and attitude of our young players this season. Our Academy side have been in imperious form, winning their last nine and currently sitting top of the table ahead of the end-of-season play-offs.
Both Holroyd and Thomas made their first team debuts in our Betfred Super League fixture away to Leeds last week with Hayes and Darbyshire having featured in 21-man squads this year.
The eight players will join the first team squad for pre-season training ahead of the 2023 campaign after looking to finish their 2022 seasons strong.
Warrington Wolves Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “I’ve been watching how the young guys in the Academy have been going throughout the year and have been really impressed with their attitude, commitment and toughness.
“They’ve got a great opportunity now. They’ve got to keep doing what they’ve been doing and work as hard as they have been. If they do that they’ll get their chances for sure.”
Head of Youth Gary Chambers added: “I’d like to congratulate the players and their families on this fantastic achievement. The way the players have applied themselves this season is something that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their careers in and out of sport. We are sure the players will add value to the first team environment next year. Well done to them all.”
