Why Leeds Rhinos star avoided ban despite yellow card

The Match Review Panel met today and following it Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Hull FC and St Helens stars were all in hot water as 11 players were charged.

But only three players were banned and they were Wigan Warriors, Hull FC and St Helens stars in the shape of Kaide Ellis, James Bell and Brad Fash.

Kaide Ellis and James Bell were both banned for one game due to dangerous contact and Brad Fash was banned for other contrary behaviour for a late hit against Wakefield Trinity.

Interestingly, three players were charged for tripping in the shape of Hull FC’s Joe Cator, Warrington Wolves star Daryl Clark and Leeds Rhinos prop Sam Lisone.

Lisone was interestingly, and to the frustration of Leeds fans, sin binned for the incident.

However, none of them received a ban even though we have seen suspensions handed out for this offence earlier in the season.

This is likely because of the prior record of the trio which has proven to same them from missing a game.

Though there is a week off this week, there are no reserves games meaning there is no loophole to exploit and allow clubs to enable stars to avoid serving bans so this means all three have dodged a bullet.

It is a boost for Leeds who suffered a huge blow in losing Justin Sangare to a suspected torn foot muscle.

Following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued the following sanctions:
