Watson praises squad

Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson has praised his players following their 42-24 victory over Catalans Dragons.

The Red Devils returned to action after forfeiting their match against Warrington Wolves on Friday night. This was also their second win in three matches since losing the Challenge Cup Final.

Watson praised the squad for how they have handled recent adversities.

He said:”That shows what we are about as a group. We made sure to remain with the same standards, we had to bounce back from the Wigan game because it wasn’t good enough.

“We spoke about history of teams that lose at Wembley. We have responded in the right way.

“Since we came back from lockdown, we have been really good, beating Catalans twice and Warrington. You hope to build and we hope to be considered a top-four team.

“The Warrington game probably would’ve killed us. We probably would have had to forfeit this game, and maybe the one after that.

“People don’t understand what players are going through to get games on at the moment. I cannot pay them enough credit.”
