Warrington Wolves star forced off the field with worrying symptoms developed during half time

Warrington Wolves are currently losing 18-6 against Catalans Dragons in a game where it seems they’re probably fortunate to be even that close to the Dragons.

It’s been dominant from Catalans with each try silencing the Halliwell Jones even more, with the Wire faithful subdued given the emotional and dramatic week that the team have gone through,

That had started on Sunday around 5pm once the game against Wakefield Trinity concluded with the team having been hammered 42-6, marking a sixth straight loss, and then a further four hours later when it was confirmed that Daryl Powell had been sacked.

The team are being led by Head of Youth Development Gary Chambers tonight and they’ve struggled throughout, and despite getting back on the scoresheet just before half time, they suffered a blow during half time.

That’s because Stefan Ratchford failed a second HIA after developing a delayed concussion per Sky Sports’ Bryan Carney, a very scary update.

Carney explained just before the play resumed: “He has been diagnosed with delayed concussion and will play no further part tonight.”

A further update was provided by touchline reporter Jon Wells who explained that Ratchford had began to feel unwell during his return to the field.

“He developed symptoms during his second spell on the field, he complained of feeling ill on the field and went for a second HIA and with the doctors not happy, they’ve withdrawn him from the game.”

It’s very concerning news for Warrington and Ratchford but it seems that the doctors have made the correct decision, placing player health above anything else.

Earlier on Ratchford had been elbowed accidentally by star playmaker George Williams in a tackle.

He returned to the field heavily bandaged after having received stitches, and passing his first HIA.

At the time Jon Wells said: “Stefan Ratchford has just returned to the field with a large bandage on his head which is covering up some 15 to 20 stiches the doctors have said.”

The game is currently in the 48th minute with the score still 18-6 but Warrington showing far more fight in this second half, hoping for a turnaround in the final half an hour.
