Wakefield Trinity reveal stunning ticket sales

Wakefield Trinity made it two wins out of two on the road with a win against Featherstone Rovers, thanks to a Lachlan Walmsley hat-trick, which secured Wakefield two points after their win over Bradford Bulls.

Walmsley scored the first try of the game only nine minutes in. The ball was spread wide on the last and sent Walmsley over right in the corner. Jowitt Nails converted to give The Dreadnoughts a 6-0 lead.

After that, Wakefield dominated the game, and only six minutes later, their efforts paid off with another Walmsley try, which was then converted by the reliable Jowitt to make it 12-0.

However, Featherstone reacted positively after the second try and got themselves back in it with a well-worked try, Danny Addy just six minutes later under the post, making it easy for their conversion kicker Louis Gorman to convert the try.

Walmsley was a big threat for Wakefield in the first half. He came close halfway through the second half but was halted by Aekins in the corner.

Just five minutes before the end of the first half, a high shot on Tele earned Trinity a penalty in front of the posts. Jowitt slotted it over a crucial penalty to push Wakefield slightly further ahead at the break.

In the second half, Featherstone came out fighting. Fifteen minutes into the second half, an error from the tap restart resulted in a scrum, which allowed Aekins to score the try.

Gorman knocks over the conversion to make it 14-12, which sets up a nervous finish for the Wakefield fans to endure.

In the last 20 minutes, Luke Gale hacks the ball forward and is held back by England. Heis is sin-binned for the obstruction, and Featherstone is down to 12 men at an important time of the game.

Sixty minutes in, Jowitt adds two to the scoreboard as they try desperately to get out of reach of Featherstone in the closing stages of the game.

Featherstone Rovers tried their best to get back into the game, but in the 71st minute, Walmsley scored his third try of the game, making it 20-12 with just nine minutes to go.

Jowitt missed his conversion, but it didn’t matter, as Wakefield held out and won the game 20-12 thanks to a Walmsley Hat-trick.

Wakefield Trinity have now played Featherstone Rovers twice in a matter of weeks as the two collided in a perfect encounter to fit within Super League’s Rivals Round with the two local rivals colliding at Post Office Road. The two both come from Wakefield postcodes and the pair served up a classic Challenge Cup clash a matter of weeks ago.

That game went the way of Wakefield after a long range Gareth Gale try in Golden Point in the mud in what was seen as a shock result.

Despite that loss, over a thousand Wakefield fans made the trip over for the rematch and it was well worth the trip and an example of Wakefield’s terrific ticket sales this year with a lot of fans making the away trip.

The club have sold over 5,000 season tickets this year and things are certainly looking up.
