Super League Disciplinary: St Helens make appeal verdict alongside John Asiata

In the latest round of Super League Disciplinary drama, decisions have been reached by clubs on potential appeals for their charges and bans.

We’re finally set to find out the fate of Leigh’s John Asiata, after the tackle for which he was given a charge being three weeks ago now but wasn’t banned.

Asiata received a Grade A Dangerous Contact charge for his tackle in the opening stages of Leigh Leopards’ 12-4 loss to St Helens.

According to owner Derek Beaumont, Asiata’s was postponed a week due to both the RFL and the Leigh Leopards having prior commitments.

However, it was again not heard last week, with Adrian Lam revealing that it was due to Beaumont being away.

Asiata’s Super League Disciplinary hearing will be heard alongside that of James Bell with St Helens challenging his one match ban.

He was charged with Grade B dangerous contact for a tackle on Leeds Rhinos star Paul Momirovski. He picked up a one match for the charge which was set to see him miss the game against Wigan Warriors on Good Friday.

Saints seemingly appeared to accept the charge with a statement confirming he would miss the derby but they have now elected to appeal the charge.

There will be two tribunals over Championship Grade E charges from Round One as well.
