After being given a hefty charge by the Match Review Panel, Sylvester Namo of Castleford Tigers now knows his fate after a Super League disciplinary decision was reached at the Operational Rules Tribunal.
Sylvester Namo was handed a Grade F Dangerous Contact charge – the highest possible grade – for a tackle which led to an injury for Willie Isa, who was stretchered off the field.
As this is the Papua New Guinea international’s first offence, the ban can be 6 games or more, or a suspension set at a specific period of time.
The Match Review Panel minutes stated that Namo was guilty of: “Dangerous Contact – Defender uses any part of their body forcefully to twist, bend or otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.”
As it was a Grade F charge, it was automatically referred to the tribunal where alongside Namo was Catalans Dragons’ Bayley Sironen who was referred to the tribunal after being given a Grade E Head Contact charge – this grade can result in a ban of three to five games.
Hull KR also appealed the decision to give forward Jesse Sue a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge with a one-match Penalty Notice, so he joined them at the tribunal.
The decision on Namo has now been reached.

The Operational Rules Panel have now reached their verdict and that has seen Namo found guilty with the Castleford forward banned for five games.
The charge was downgraded from Grade F to E which is why the punishment was only five games and not six, however, five is still at the high end of a Grade F charge.
Namo has also been fined £750, the club have confirmed.
They’ve also hinted at a potential further appeal in their post on social media.
It reads: “Sylvester Namo has had his charge downgraded from Grade F to Grade E and has been suspended for 5 games and has been given a £750 fine
“The club will be reviewing options in detail tonight and will provide an update tomorrow.”
