Super League club set to make stadium changes to improve IMG score

Hull KR are growing at an exponential rate both on and off the field and are now working on their stadium to help grow their IMG score.

In a supporters council meeting, Chief Executive Paul Lakin has revealed plans for the stadium redevelopment including a 3G pitch as well as LED installation.

These are going to see them earn points with the sport especially the LED screen which will boost their IMG score as Lakin explained:

“The 3 sided LED installation will probably not be done until the summer. This installation is within the IMG grading and can get additional points on the IMG grading. 3G pitch planning permission has been approved.

“All funding is in place, if we get the green light from the Football Foundation then the work will commence at the end of February 2023 with a completion time of around the end of July 2024. The 3G pitch installation will be a first of its kind as the pitch can be used for Rugby League, it is a larger pitch area than a 3G football pitch and there will be shock absorbing on the ground for rugby.”

Speaking of their grading, he added:

“You will all be aware that the club were given an A grade, we need to maintain this grading for next year, we are confident that we can do this. The grading shows how far the Club has come. It is an external audit with different facets. With an A grade we cannot get relegated. We were consistently very good in all areas rather than outstanding in a particular area. There are areas we can improve. There are some ratings that are out of our hands, as game results are within the grading system, Challenge Cup, position in league.”

Further, he explained the new relationship with Hull City Women:

“It was a trial. The women’s game has a lot of funding for the stadium that goes with it. But the pitch is a priority. We need to maintain the pitch for the rugby games. Concerts – our groundsman was able to prep 2 months in advance so the pitch recovered quickly following the concert.”
