Seven in seven challenge for Rob Burrow passes major fundraising milestone

Since Rob Burrow’s Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis two years ago, we’ve seen so many people band together to lend their support to Burrow and the fight against the awful disease.

Kevin Sinfield’s two gruelling challenges helped raise £5 million in the fight against MND whilst the likes of Oliver Holmes have also done their bit to raise money and awareness.

But the latest hero in the battle against the disease has to be Martyn Clarke. The Wigan fan has huge respect for Burrow and believed what happened to the Leeds legend simply wasn’t fair as he disclosed to Serious About Rugby League in an exclusive interview outlining exactly why he felt he needed to do something for Burrow and how his mission spread as fair as Africa.

After running 12 miles every day for the 12 days of Christmas last year, Martyn took things up a notch this year running running seven half Ironman triathlons in seven days to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association all in the name of eight-time Super League Champion Burrow.

With an initial target of £7,777, he quickly set his sights on £17,777 once the likes of Leigh owner Derek Beaumont had helped him past the first landmark and today, just a day after his impressive challenge came to an end leaving Martyn tired and drained, his fundraising efforts have reached a new milestone.

Martyn’s seven in seven challenge has now surpassed the £20,000 mark underlining how much of a success his gutsy challenge has been in the fight against MND and you can still donate to the cause now through the link here.
