With Blake Austin joining Castleford Tigers immediately and Aidan Sezer set to join Wests Tigers in 2024, Leeds are in the market for a halfback or even two.
The Rhinos have been linked with a number of potential signings and lately they have been linked with Hull KR star Rowan Milnes.
The Challenge Cup Finalist worked with Rohan Smith at Bradford Bulls and Smith was asked about potential interest in the halfback.
“He’s got a good name to start with,” Rohan joked.
“I’ve not spoken to him except from saying hello to him at a pre-season trial game and I said congratulations to him after they beat us the other week.
“He’s a player I’ve known for a long time. He was in the Bradford system when I was there. Good player.”
He did confirm interest in halfbacks however: “We’re in the market for halves and we’re talking to people throughout the world of rugby league.”
However, the Rhinos boss had to deliver some bad news around prop forward Justin Sangare who will be out for the season.
Smith said: “Yeah, certainly he’s had a pretty solid start to his life in England. It’s been a big move for a young bloke from the south of France to come over here and I take that leap.
“He’s learned a lot. He’s contributed well and just got a good base, I think, for more to come in the years to follow.”
He also gave an update on Richie Myler: “He’s had a follow-up x-ray in the last few days and things are healing well, which is good and that’s the priority at this stage is to focus on the healing and then we’ll recheck in another few weeks or a month or so and see if there’s any chance of the back end but most likely he’s done for the year as well.”
There was also an update given on Zane Tetevano:
“He’s still got some medical things to get through before he can contemplate full training or anything like that. So we’ll work through that and update when we have one.”
