Robinson details day he got the job

Huddersfield Giants interim Head Coach Luke Robinson has revealed what happened on the day he found out he would be placed in temporary charge.

The Giants said Head Coach Simon Woolford had left the club early, after previously saying he would be leaving at the end of the season- following the expiration his contract.

Robinson also said he would be happy to carry on until someone tells him otherwise.

He said: “Training was due to start at 10am. A few of the lads who had to come over from Lancashire had got there a little bit earlier.

“Then we had heard from the RFL that a Leeds player had tested positive, and we were not allowed to train until track and trace had been completed.

“So all of the lads had separated to the different coffee shops in the area, seeing as they couldn’t be together (while track and trace was going on.)

“A few hours passed by, then I heard that Simon and the club had parted ways. To say it was surreal was an understatement.

“From there, the RFL got back in touch and said we could train again. But four couldn’t take part. Three starters and one bench player.

“We had a quick meeting, and I had half-an-hour to organise myself and get the lads ready.”
