Price frustrated with celebration rule

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price said he is frustrated with the new rules regarding players celebrating.

Any players that celebrate by hugging each other, etc. will face fines of up to £250.

Price said this when talking about Matty Ashton’s try, when they broke 90m to establish an eight point lead before half-time.

He said: “I’m just a bit frustrated with the game to be honest, where you can’t celebrate tries. If you do, you can cop a £250 fine.

“I just don’t understand how that has been brought in by the game. As a young kid growing up, all players who play rugby league, for enjoyment and fun, for teamwork and to create togetherness, I think the powers above need to show some empathy and sympathy for the players on what they have done to keep the game afloat.

“Taking away try celebrations is demoralising and not good for the game.

“As you saw last night with Salford, to win the game in extra-time. That’s what you play for, to celebrate those moments.

“I don’t think it’s right for the game.”
