Major team news confirmed for Super League clash between Wigan Warriors and Hull FC

On Friday night we will see Wigan Warriors host Hull FC, St Helens take on Hull KR, a key play-off clash between Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils as well as a meeting between Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers which could decide the relegation battle.

Often you would look at those fixtures and the meeting between Wigan and Hull FC would stand out as the fixture, but it will play second fiddle to Wakefield v Cas on Friday night despite the play-off ramifications.

Wigan are chasing a spot in the top two and with it a home semi-final in the Super League play-offs.

Meanwhile, Hull FC are embroiled in a battle with the likes of Hull KR, Warrington Wolves, Leeds Rhinos, Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils for a spot in the top six.

Their form would indicate that they are one of the favourites despite not occupying the top six right now but momentum is on their side.

However, it is always a tricky trip heading over to Wigan especially given the attacking weapons they have in the shape of Bevan French and Jai Field.

Meanwhile, Hull FC are without star fullback Tex Hoy for the game which will hurt their chances of matching Wigan’s fire power.

Either way it will be a huge game for both sides in the context of their seasons as they look to secure a favourable place in the play-offs and the team news has now been confirmed.

Peet has made one change to his 21-man squad for Friday as Sam Powell returns from injury to replace Kaide Ellis, who misses out through a one-match suspension.

If selected, Liam Byrne will make his 100th appearance for Wigan Warriors on Friday evening.

Tony Smith has made two changes to the side that defeated Wakefield Trinity before the league break for the Challenge Cup Final, with Liam Sutcliffe recovering from a finger injury to return, and young back-rower Zach Jebson also coming into the squad.

The pair replace Brad Fash, who serves his one-game suspension, and Jamie Shaul.

Tex Hoy remains unavailable for selection with a hamstring injury, while Mitieli Vulikijapani continues his recovery from knee surgery.
