Leeds Rhinos stars whose contracts run out at the end of 2022

Unlike most Super League clubs, Leeds Rhinos actually have a small amount of players that are coming off contract at the end of 2022.

Following an average 2021 season – where the Rhinos made it to the semi-finals of the play-offs before being punished by St Helens – head coach Richard Agar has begun his retention early, with the likes of Mikolaj Oledzki and Harry Newman penning their futures at Headingley for the foreseeable future.

There are still, however, seven players that are waiting to impress in the new season in order to be handed a new deal.

Perhaps the most high profile of those is former Warrington Wolves halfback Blake Austin who was most recently linked with new NRL club The Dolphins for 2023 – the 30-year-old only signed a one-year deal at Leeds.

Leeds youngster Jack Broadbent is also without a deal for 2023, but it’s likely that the Rhinos will want to tie him down further, which can also be said of the likes of Brad Dwyer, Rhyse Martin and Alex Mellor.

Tom Briscoe – who has been handed the number 20 shirt for 2022 after a number of years taking the number 2 shirt at Headingley – remains without a deal past 2022, as does former Toronto Wolfpack forward Bodene Thompson.

However, it looks as though this Leeds side will enjoy a period of stability for the next couple of seasons as Agar perfects his squad.
