Leeds Rhinos star Harry Newman set to make big decision on his future

Leeds Rhinos star Harry Newman

There has been plenty of speculation around the future of Leeds Rhinos star Harry Newman lately and in late of Jack Welsby’s new deal at St Helens, the question is can Leeds replicate that with Newman.

The England international sparked interest in the NRL with his England performances and that has got the entire rugby world, including rugby union clubs, interested in signing him.

The likes of St Helens and Huddersfield Giants have also been linked with him but Leeds have pole position with the rules in the UK being vastly different to those in the NRL meaning Newman cannot talk to rival clubs yet.

The Rhinos have begun negotiations with the centre and Serious About Rugby League understands that a decision on Newman’s future will be made early in the new year.

As 2023, draws to a close however, Rhinos fans won’t be able to see the Leeds centre on Boxing Day as he begins a gradual return to training after only just returning for pre-season following England duties.

Leeds will have the chance to see new signing Lachie Miller in action who said of the Boxing Day friendly:

“Yeah man I’m so I’m actually so keen to play. I really just want to get out there, obviously there’s only so much you can do at training but I really want to get out here and see what the fans have. Yeah, I really want to play.

“I’d normally probably be recovering from food, a couple of beers, but normally family time, but it’ll be a cool new tradition for us for the next couple years.”

He will likely link up with Jack Sinfield who will start in the halves alongside new signing Matt Frawley.

Miller is already impressed by the young halfback but did label him a “pest.”

He said: “To be honest, everyone’s gelled right in, but even though he’s super annoying Jack Sinfield for his age has got a really good level head for a half .

“He’s exciting. He’s just a pest but I suppose you need those guys in your team. He’s actually a really good kid. He’s just a pest isn’t he.”
