Leeds Rhinos searching the globe for specific signing

Rohan Smith

Leeds Rhinos have lost Blake Austin to Castleford Tigers and are set to lose Aidan Sezer to Wests Tigers in 2024 and are subsequently in the market for a halfback.

They have been linked with the likes of former Warrington Wolves star Tyrone Roberts, Luke Brooks and others.

They have most recently been linked with a move for Rowan Milnes at Hull KR with the Robins having plenty of competition for places especially with Tyrone May joining in 2024.

Rohan Smith commented on the halfback.

“He’s got a good name to start with,” Rohan joked.

“I’ve not spoken to him except from saying hello to him at a pre-season trial game and I said congratulations to him after they beat us the other week.

“He’s a player I’ve known for a long time. He was in the Bradford system when I was there. Good player.”

He did confirm that the club are looking across the globe for halfbacks:

“We’re in the market for halves and we’re talking to people throughout the world of rugby league.”

This comes as Rohan Smith gave an update on Justin Sangare as his season was confirmed to be over:

“Yeah, certainly he’s had a pretty solid start to his life in England. It’s been a big move for a young bloke from the south of France to come over here and I take that leap.

“He’s learned a lot. He’s contributed well and just got a good base, I think, for more to come in the years to follow.”

There was also an update on Richie Myler:

“He’s had a follow-up x-ray in the last few days and things are healing well, which is good and that’s the priority at this stage is to focus on the healing and then we’ll recheck in another few weeks or a month or so and see if there’s any chance of the back end but most likely he’s done for the year as well.”

And Zane Tetevano:

“He’s still got some medical things to get through before he can contemplate full training or anything like that. So we’ll work through that and update when we have one.”
