At the conclusion of the 2023 Super League there was a huge amount of negativity amongst the Leeds Rhinos fan base.
This began to change with the rumours of Leeds Rhinos signing former Man of Steel Brodie Croft from Salford Red Devils and more so when the club received a cash injection with one of the biggest sponsorship deals in Super League history as the Rhinos partnered with AMT.
AMT were given the naming rights to the stadium and on top that they also feature on the club’s new kits for the 2024 campaign.
This new look is set to extend to the stadium itself with the East Stand having work done to it to change it to reflect the new sponsorship.
There is further work being done at AMT Headingley as the club confirmed. They made two statements about the work being done on X:
“Please note our telephone phones are down whilst essential work is carried out at AMT Headingley. We hope to be back to normal by noon today.
“We’ve got a new look coming for Boxing Day and our Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge.”
So the work will be done in time for the Boxing Day friendly against Wakefield Trinity which is something Ash Handley is looking forward to saying in an interview for the Rhinos:
“I think this will be my 11th game consecutively so looking forward to it. Looking forward to getting out there and seeing what it’s about with the new group.”
He was even a mascot in 2005: “I’ve seen Pete Smith put the program on Twitter the other day and it’s crazy what’s come from that. I’ve been away with Disko (Matt Diskin) on a stag do and now I’m here training with his son, so it’s pretty weird, yeah.”
He also spoke about visiting children in hospital ahead of Christmas:
“The hospital is always a good one and a tough one, it’s sad that the kids are in that situation over Christmas especially, but it’s nice for us to do our bit and give out a few presents. I know it’s not much, but it’s what we can do to put a little smile on their face for that day.”
