Lam focused on League Leaders Shield

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has said winning the League Leaders Shield would be a huge achievement for his team.

The Warriors have not won the Shield since 2012. That came after a dramatic 42-36 win at Hull KR in the penultimate round.

They have also only won the Shield twice since it was first awarded in 2003.

Lam says they are taking the prospect very seriously.

He said: “As a club, we havent won the League Leaders since 2012, so it would be a massive acheivement for the players and for myself as a Head Coach.

“We’ve been a lot more consistent this year. We have been up there all year, even before lockdown. It would certainly be a great achievement. And it is in our hands as well.”

Despite being on the brink of winning his first trophy as Head Coach, Lam was keen to get major players out of the way before confirming his future.

He added: “We have got Bevan French done, Jackson Hastings we are hoping to get over the line and then I will be the last. I do not want to take any limelight away from those two.”
