Warrington Wolves have a historically spend a lot of money especially because of their pursuit of a first ever Super League title.
They made plenty of signings going into the 2023 Super League season after finishing 11th in the 2022 Super League season – their worst ever finish.
They signed Sam Kasiano, Gil Dudson, Paul Vaughan and Josh McGuire to bolster their pack whilst Josh Drinkwater gave their spine the perfect balance.
They weren’t the only team to make a lot of big signings, the likes of Leigh Leopards and Hull FC made some notable signings.
However, Jon Wilkin has said that the Wolves have spent the most again for the 2023 season and that historically they have spent the most as well:
“Well we were all watching Warrington last year expecting them to get going and never did,” he said on Sky Sports.
“They have spent more than any other team in the competition and certainly have done again this year but this season they seem to be delivering.
“In the opening five rounds they have just been exceptional, their form form has been outstanding.
“What you would like me to say here is ‘is that Warrington are a team that can go on and win everything and are we in a situation where they can go on and be unbeaten all year’ but I’m not going to say that.
“As broadcasters we build this Warrington team up to a point where they are ready to trip up.
“Warrington have been great but there is a long way to go in this season.”
