Jon Wilkin suggests Wakefield held Tom Johnstone back

Some people questioned Tom Johnstone’s move to Catalans Dragons.

The French side already had Fouad Yaha and Tom Davies whilst Johnstone has of course suffered with plenty of injuries.

However, he has been in red hot form to start the season scoring two hat-tricks.

Now Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin has suggested that this is because he has left his comfort zone and has thus improved and kicked on.

He said: “Tom Johnstone was a key signing, his form was no surprise. He had injury problems at Wakefield but I’m saying this: the reason Tom Johnstone is going well is because for the first time in his career he is challenging himself.

“He is out of his comfort zone, he has gone out and done something really different, he has moved over to the South of France and low and behold, things have gone well for him.

“In life we exist in our comfort zones too often, for real value in what you do is to go out of them and he has done that and Catalans are benefiting.”

So perhaps Wakefield were holding Johnstone back in the eyes of Wilkin but of course injuries played a part.

However, this week Johnstone has missed training this week ahead of Catalans’ clash with Leeds Rhinos.

This is according to L’Independent who have suggested that Mitchell Pearce could return from injury.
