“If they win tonight, I believe they’ll get to the Grand Final” – Phil Clarke makes incredibly bold Warrington Wolves prediction

Warrington Wolves started the season like a side who were in line to win the Grand Final as they started with eight wins from eight and raced to the top of Super League, and one pundit has said that’s still a chance despite the club having slipped to sixth.

That slip down the table from first to sixth has happened on account of just three wins in twelve games and most recently six losses in a row.

Ultimately the most recent is the most damaging with bottom of the table Wakefield Trinity hammering the Wolves on Sunday, leading to the sacking of Daryl Powell.

Currently with interim head coach Gary Chambers it would seem that the chances of the Wolves lifting the Grand Final are very slim but Sky Sports’ pundit Phil Clarke has claimed that a win for Warrington over Catalans tonight could be the trigger to send them to Old Trafford.

“When I watched the Warrington side play against Wakefield in round 11 and Hull KR in round 12, okay they won those games, but there was something in that that I detected wasn’t right,” Clarke explained.

He then made a massively bold prediction.

“I’ll say this. It’s a big statement, Brian. If they win here tonight, I believe they’ll get to the Grand Final. That is how important this match is for me, this 80 minutes.

“Their confidence could go from 0 to 100 with a good win here against the Catalan Dragons.

“There’s more than two points riding on this for me. There’s the entire season because the hopes may either be made or broken in the game we’re going to see tonight.”

A win would be a huge boost for Warrington but as to whether it could be the catalyst for a charge towards the Grand Final is a completely different statement.
