Samisoni Langi has joined Wakefield Trinity on a two-year deal.
He has now explained on Wakefield’s Twitter page that he is excited about the chance to work with new boss Mark Applegarth and his style of play:
“I’ve had a few conversations with Mark, he sounded very excited and positive and the style he wants to play, I think I would be very suited to that.”
It comes after Langi rejected a move to Wakefield in 2021. He explained why he did so:
“I guess 12 months ago I wasn’t quite ready to make that move over to England whereas now I am happy to make that move and make amends to all the fans and sponsors over there and prove to them that I will fit into the Wakefield community and bring my style of play.
“I wasn’t ready but I am ready now.”
It also sounds like Langi may not play the centre role he had at Catalans:
“I just love footy to be honest, doesn’t matter position wise. Centre I have made my own over the last few years but yeah I can play in the halves like when I first came over to Catalans, I can be a utility player, I’m versatile.
“I’ve got a different skillset, I wouldn’t mind showing that at Wakefield but if I’m needed at centre I’m happy to play there.”
