Hull KR set for surprise signings ahead of 2024 season

Super League fans

Hull KR have accomplished some outstanding business ahead of the new season as they look set to be real competitors moving forward under Willie Peters.

They have signed the likes of former Warrington Wolves centre Peta Hiku, former Wigan Warriors star Oliver Gildart from Leigh Leopards and Castleford Tigers fullback Niall Evalds among others.

But remarkably they may not be done yet. They have used up all their quota spots as well as a lot of their cap space.

This is why they are targeting one or two rugby union signings to pad out the squad and provide them with depth and an opportunity for development.

However, they will not be signing Regan Grace as the rugby union rules don’t apply to him as he is league trained.

The club is on the brink of an amazing new era and Peta Hiku has underlined this in an interview on the club’s website:

“It’s exciting to be here, especially for my family as it’s the first time we’ve been over here as a family. We’re all really looking forward to it and now my main focus is here at Hull KR.”

Despite only landing into the country on Monday, Peta can’t wait to get involved with the squad:

“I can’t wait to start pre-season, just from watching some games last season of the way we play, it’s exciting to be a part of and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the boys and everyone around the club.”

When asked about the famous Red Army, Hiku has already been made aware of how vocal match days get:

“I’m looking forward to our first home game, Willie and a lot of the players have been saying how noisy the stands get. I can’t wait for that feeling of running out infront of our home fans and I’m so excited for it.”

Looking ahead to the start of the season, the New Zealander can’t wait to experience the Hull Derby in Round One.

“A lot of the talk before I came here was the talk about the rivalry between the two Hull clubs. So finding out it’s our Round One game is all the motivation we need for pre-season and I’m looking forward to being involved in such a big rivalry. I already know how much it means to the people in this town and I can’t wait.”
