Hull FC forward completes immediate switch to former club

Hull FC have confirmed that impressive youngster Charlie Severs has left the club on loan to join York Knights whom he has played for in the past.

The 20-year-old is an impressive young forward and is one of an exciting crop of young players emerging at the club.

He is also one of a number of loan moves that has transpired this week as Betfred Championship clubs snap up exciting Super League youngsters ahead of the somewhat real start to their season after the conclusion of Challenge Cup and 1895 Cup games.

The likes of Leon Ruan from the Leeds Rhinos among others have completed loan moves. Ruan, who featured in Leeds’ start to the season, has joined Doncaster.

His teammate the highly rated young forward tom Nicholson-Watton will join Severs at York however whilst another Rhino, Corey Johnson is at Bradford Bulls.

They completed two loan signings this week whilst Leigh Leopards also confirmed three loan departures.

Hull FC confirm Severs move

Hull FC confirmed the departure of their young forward with the following statement: “Hull FC can confirm that Charlie Severs has re-joined York Knights on loan. The 20-year old back-rower has linked up with the Betfred Championship side following the start of the Betfred Championship season.

“Severs will look to gain some valuable game time under head coach Andrew Henderson at his home town club having recovered from a long-term shoulder injury sustained in 2023 ahead of the start of the season.

“Severs originally joined the Knights ahead of the start of the season, but was recalled by the Black & Whites due to a mounting injury list.

“The Hull FC Academy product has three senior appearance under his belt having made his senior debut during the 2022 season, including coming off the bench in out Round 2 fixture against Warrington Wolves earlier this season.”

The club have a bright future ahead of them if they can continue to develop young players like Severs but they need to navigate their tough start to the 2024 season at first team level first.
