Hodgson details crazy day

Hull KR Assistant Coach David Hodgson has detailed what has been a crazy day for the Robins.

It started with news Head Coach Tony Smith had to self-isolate after being in contact with somebody who tested positive for COVID-19.

Then, their kick off had to be delayed as both them and Castleford Tigers were stuck in traffic following an oil spill on the M62.

The two sides then played out a high-scoring affair, with Castleford taking the spoils 38-24.

He said: “The day started with the journey. Getting off at Saddleworth Moors and taking a huge detour.

“You know as soon as you get a bang on the M62, or a spill as it was today, it can turn a two-to-three hour journey into a three-to-four hour journey.

“However, that is no excuse for the start. We need to do better. We have proven we can play, but we give teams too much of a head start. We almost clawed it back, but it was too late.

“I though our forwards dug deep. Full credit to them, we all did all day. Last 10 minutes, we got back to eight points and gave ourselves a chance.”
