EXCLUSIVE: Jamaican side Kingston Barracudas to join Super League in 2023

“Nuff people say they know they can’t believe, Jamaica we have a SUPER LEAGUE team!”

Yes that’s right, we can exclusively reveal that the famous Caribbean island of JAMAICA will become the latest country to have a team in Super League from 2023.

Following the success of fellow transatlantic side Toronto Wolfpack, the newly-formed Kingston Barracudas will be fast-tracked into Europe’s top division in less than three years time.

The popularity of rugby league in Jamaica has skyrocketed since the Jamaican national team qualified for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

And the countries’ most famous figure Usain Bolt, who fell in love with rugby league when he lived in Australia, will be the main financial backer of the Barracudas.

They are also expected to be coached by dual-code legend Jason Robinson OBE and play out of Jamaica’s national stadium, Independence Park.

Speaking on the formation of the Barracudas, nine-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt said: “DID YOU FORGET WHAT DAY IT WAS? APRIL FOOLS!”

Note:

This article is merely a bit of fun in these testing times. We are in full appreciation of what the Jamaican Rugby League team have achieved over the last few years and we wish the Reggae Warriors all the best at next year’s World Cup. We also hope the countries’ domestic league competition can continue to prosper, especially in Kingston where many of the teams originate.
