Yesterday, Salford Red Devils confirmed that Morgan Escare was to leave the club with immediate effect to take up a new venture in France.
It was subsequently speculated that he would join Toulouse Olympique’s push for promotion in 2023.
However, this is not the case with a move to Carcassonne XIII in the French Elite One Championship being confirmed by the club yesterday.
The livewire fullback started his career in France of course with the Catalans Dragons prior to a move to the Wigan Warriors where he was left to at first battle it out with Sam Tomkins for the fullback spot before then having to tussle with Zak Hardaker over the number one shirt.
He spent four seasons at the DW Stadium but spent a part of the 2019 campaign on loan at Wakefield Trinity.
Escare got the chance to win both the 2017 World Club Challenge and the 2018 Grand Final coming off the bench against Warrington Wolves at Old Trafford in a 12-4 triumph.
Escare would leave Wigan to take up a deal with the Salford Red Devils where he has been in and out of the side initially due to Dan Sarginson prior to Ryan Brierley’s arrival at his home town club.
The fullback most recently starred for France in the World Cup only missing their last group game against Samoa.
He now returns to France to play in the French competition.
