Confirmed: Warrington Wolves to appeal Paul Vaughan ban

Warrington Wolves take on Huddersfield Giants on Friday night to secure their place in the play offs above Salford Red Devils.

They have named their 21 man squad for that game and have named Paul Vaughan in that squad.

This is despite the fact Vaughan was banned for four games last night by an Operational Rules Tribunal.

The Wolves hinted at an appeal and that seems certain now that he has been named in the squad.

Gary Chambers spoke about this earlier today: “He’s gutted about it obviously. He’s been a massive part of what we’ve done this year, anything that has been successful around the team he’s been involved in that. What I would like to say as well is we fully understand and respect what a grade E charge is and we get that and if we’re going to go any further into this, we’re just looking into it at the moment.”

He also spoke about the impact on Vaughan: “Yeah, that’s tough, isn’t it? It’s tough on the lads, it’s tough on Paul and ultimately the fans as well.”

He also called for more common sense: “Maybe, and that’s something that we’ll look into and I’m sure that the people within the game are looking to. I’ll say again, we get why it’s there, we get this grade E charge, we see what that’s about; but I think there’s a bigger picture here, isn’t there?”

He also spoke about injuries: “We’ll make that decision tomorrow when they come in, and see where we are with the squad and how that looks. We’ll know better tomorrow and how they pull up after what’s been done here.”

There was also an update on Joe Bullock: “Yeah, he ran yesterday, he’s another. The medical team are going to have calls this morning to see how everybody is, there’s a lot of tissue injuries here so it totally depends on how they are.”

The Wolves will be hoping to get a win over the Huddersfield Giants come Friday to secure their play off spot.

It is one of six games at 20:00 on Friday.
