2021 was a big year for French rugby league. An unbeaten Toulouse stormed to the top of the Championship and secured promotion at the expense of Featherstone whilst Catalans finished top of Super League for the first time in their 15-year Super League stint before playing in a very first Grand Final.
They slipped up 12-10 in the decider against St Helens in a brilliant Grand Final, and some believed that, following the departure of James Maloney to the Elite One Championship in France, that their one chance at Super League glory had slipped through their fingers.
However, with exciting signings like Mitchell Pearce, Dylan Napa and Tyrone May all arriving from Australia, the Dragons arguably have a better squad this year than they did last leading some to tip them for Super League success in 2022. They are now seen as the most likely side to stop St Helens from claiming an unprecedented fourth Super League title in a row.
No matter what the Dragons achieve in 2022, they’ll do it in style based on the home and away kits the Dragons revealed this morning. Their home shirt is perhaps the best jersey the club has ever produced. It truly embraces the blood and gold banners we saw when they played Hull KR in the Super League semi-final last year as a brilliant, otherworldly atmosphere was forged by the locals.
The kit adopts a traditional look with a white shirt, shorts and socks adorned by red and gold detailing. The shirt has red sleeves which bleed into a red vee across the chest which contains inside it a golden vee. Gold also features down the side of the shirt and shorts whilst the red and gold reappear at the top of the socks as well creating a smart and visually captivating kit designed by Macron.

The away shirt is also stunning. It’s incredibly vibrant thanks to its yellow base and red stripes. The shorts continue that with their bright red look whilst the ensemble is completed by yellow socks.
On top of this, the club has also announced a new sponsor in the shape Fluidra-Zodiac who specialise in the manufacturing and sale of swimming pool equipment across the world but particularly in France. They now feature on the front of the new shirt.

Based in Perpignan, the company helps the Dragons fulfil their desire of creating and maintaining links with local companies.
On the new deal, Catalans Chairman Bernard Guasch said: “Having a partner like Fluidra-Zodiac is a great recognition and a major asset for the club. It‘s a leader in the region. I think that our 2021 campaign, carried out with the huge visibility that was given to the Dragons, has interested these large companies of the department with the visibility the club offers. By playing regularly in England and by being broadcasted on Sky Sports, we have to become the ambassador of Catalonia and Occitania.”
Whilst the CEO of Fluidra-Zodiac Stephane Figueroa stated: “It’s an honour and a source of pride to be associated with the Catalan Dragons because it corresponds to our values, values of commitment and success reinforced by the club’s impressive 2021 season. It also corresponds to the mentality of Bernard Guasch who has represented this desire for years. We are therefore very proud to be a partner of the club to promote our brand. We are convinced that in France and in England, the Zodiac brand will be honoured thanks to the Catalans Dragons. We are partnering many sports in Catalonia and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to be placed on the Dragons’ jersey.”
